-Election website

Mary Ann Mixon has been a resident of Cutler Bay for seven years. Born in Pensacola, Florida Mary Ann moved to Miami during her teen years. She attended Coral Gables Senior High and went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Miami. Mary Ann's professional history consists of being a retail store manager, a loan officer and most recently a licensed Real Estate Sales Associate.

From Mary Ann-
I will bring a fresh perspective to Cutler Bay's Town Council. I will work to connect citizens to the government and help make the government process more open and understandable. I will support local business growth and responsible economic development in commercial areas. I am a big proponent of green spaces and will continue to promote environmental responsibility in and about the community. I am committed to making Cutler Bay a better place to live, work, play, and raise a family.

About the environment-
My top priority is to protect and preserve the Town's natural environment. I want to ensure the decisions made concerning economic and suburban growth are approved only with resource conservation and sustainability in mind. I also want to ensure that citizen input is a big part of that decision making process. We have an obligation to our future generations to get this right; wise economic and growth management policies will accomplish that.

About taxes and the budget-
My goal is to listen, learn and work for our Town using a conservative approach to fiscal planning. I sense the biggest challenge we have will be to balance the community's vision with the Town's financial reality. By employing a constrained financial management approach and maintaining a strict spending discipline, we can keep taxes to a minimum without compromising any vital services.

About community safety-
Community safety is a major concern. Our police force has done a fantastic job at reducing the crime rate; however, there is always room for improvement. I believe by giving the police the tools and support they need, they can continue to increase the level of protection in our community. A strong police presence in our community is paramount.

About development-
Containing urban sprawl and reducing our growing traffic congestion, is also a chief concern. Creating an environment where people can live, work, shop, and recreate all in close proximity will make it more practical to choose environmentally friendly transportation. This reduces the dependence on automobiles, thus reducing congestion and green house gas emissions; which is imperative for the maintenance, protection, and improvement of the health of our community. I would like the citizens of Cutler Bay to be able to help determine what development is good for their town. The people who live here deserve the right to say what will or will not be built in their neighborhood.

About schools-
I believe we need to reach out to our area schools to find out how we can help them become better. We need to work with the schools to help foster academic growth and improve the quality of services, facilities and activities.
