Plan Ahead For The Mayors Hurricane Preparedness Workshop
On Saturday, May 19th, from 9am- 12pm. Commissioner Katy Sorenson, the town of Cutler Bay, and the villages of Palmetto Bay and Pinecrest will join forces to present a morning of valuable information to help you prepare for hurricane season. Speaking at the workshop will be Don Noe and Max Mayfield. Commissioner Katie Sorenson
will be there along with representatives from:The State Attorneys office, FP&L, South Florida Water Management District as well as 19 Miami-Dade County departments. Sofisa Bank will be providing food and

The State of Florida is now offering matching grants to homeowners wishing to protect their homes from hurricane damage. Homeowners start by requesting a home inspection. After their home is evaluated, the
homeowner can receive up to $5,000.00 in matching grant money for improvements made to fortify their homes. For additional information, visit.
Hurricane Tax Break
From June 1st through June 12th, Floridians will be able to purchase hurricane supplies such as batteries, weather radios, fuel tanks, portable generators etc free of state taxes. Read the Department of Revenue flyer for more information and a complete list of tax exempt items.
